Teachers’ Day – My Respects To The Great Guru- Krishna

Teacher’s Day is celebrated every year on the 5th of September in India. in honour of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was born on September 5, 1888.He was the First Vice President and the Second President of India.

He was a great intellectual, theorist and recipient of the Bharat Ratna. From 1962 when he became the President, India has commemorated Dr Radhakrishnan’s birth anniversary as Teachers’ Day by paying homage to its teachers and gurus.

This day is a proof to the teachers that they are also important in the society. This is the day teachers who are otherwise not shown any consideration are respected.

The teaching profession is a noble profession where teachers dedicate themselves and feel warmth for the students. Can you specify any other profession which does that? A teacher can alter the destiny of the nation like no other professional can. It is only the teachers who can develop honest citizens for the country.

I recommend everyone to invite their teachers on extraordinary occasions. No other thing like inviting your primary school teacher to hoist the national flag on the occasion of Republic Day or Independence Day. That day history will be written, when you respect and honour your teachers rather than inviting celebrities.

I urge everyone else to change their profile picture on all social media platforms with their favorite teacher’s picture on this Teachers’ Day. Also, don’t forget to send a message to your teachers on this day who must have contributed in whatever way they can to whatever you are today.

For me today my greatest teacher is Lord Krishna.

The world’s greatest teacher for me is Lord Krishna. He is worshiped not only by Hindus but also by people of many other religions at a global level,

Atheists too believe in the existence of intellect and never-ending awareness of Lord Krishna. Devotees of Lord Krishna like me believe that the Bhagavad-Gita is a talk between Arjuna and Krishna, as he is preparing to go into a battle with his own family members.

In the path of giving Arjuna all types of spiritual and material advice as his charioteer, Krishna explains the essence of KARMA, the self, the ultimate Self, and the rationale of Yoga. He further explains the distinction between ourselves and our material body, how our surroundings affect our awareness, and how to achieve the exactness of life.

The Bhagwad Gita appears as a vital episode in the Mahabharata. It is the spirit of Vedic knowledge and one of the most important books of Vedic literature.

He says:-

  • Hell has three entities – GREED, ANGER AND LUST”.
  • Fear Not– What is not real, never was and never will be. What is REAL always was and cannot be destroyed”.
  • “A MAN is made by his BELIEFS. As he believes, so he becomes”.
  • “There is neither this world, nor the world beyond, nor happiness for one who DOUBTS”.
  • “Develop the right attitude towards your work and even the most mundane work becomes a SOURCE OF JOY”.
  • “Austerity of speech consists in speaking truthfully and beneficially and in avoiding speech that offends”.
  • “The Key to happiness is the reduction of desires”.
  • “Perform your obligatory duties because action is better than inaction”.
  • “Action is the product of qualities inherent in nature”.

So on this teachers Day I have decided to show my love to the world’s greatest teacher – Lord Krishna.

The 8th embodiment of Lord Vishnu is not just a celestial entity but a whole consciousness. Krishna is the only person in the unfolding of individual consciousness who is enormously in love with existence, with the poetry of existence, with the music of existence, and with the dance of existence. His perspective towards life is not at all negative but very affirmative.

He accepts life as it is.“When I comprehended the Bhagvad Gita it transformed my way of life. We, who do not see Krishna just as a God, see him as a yogi, a philosopher, and a teacher. He is the greatest scientist and engineer on earth”.

Krishna says: “The splendor of the sun, which dissipates the darkness of this whole world, comes from Me. And the splendor of the moon and the splendor of fire are also from Me.” [Bg. 15.12]

KRISHNA – An Existence, A Thought Process

As children we celebrated the birth of  Krishna as Janamashtami in our school and  neighborhood. It was community occasion where everyone got involved from small children to elders. The idea behind it was to support creativity and pass on the philosophy of Krishna in the simplest way. Love, Brotherhood, Compassion and Unity and Harmony was the essence of the festival which we inculcated among our students and ourselves. Thus we can say that Krishna is not a person only in physical shape, he is an existence, a thought process.

The Form Of Lord Krishna is symbolic

Deep blue is the color of infinity.  It is the color of the sky and the Deep Ocean.  Yellow is the color of earth.  A deep blue God-image enclosed in yellow clothes symbolizes the strength of mind clothed in the body.  Krishna is a symbol of the body and spirit, a symbol of each one of us in our enlightened outward appearance.  When we become aware of our true self, we realize that there is no difference between us and Krishna. We are one with Krishna.

Sufi Inayat Khan: “Krishna is pictured in Hindu Mythology with a coronet of peacock feathers, playing the flute. Krishna is the idea of celestial love, the deity of love. And the celestial love expresses itself by entering in man and satisfying his whole being.  The flute embodies the human heart, a heart which is made void, which becomes a flute for the god of love to play. When the heart is not vacant, in other words when there is no range in the heart, there is no place for love”.

Rumi, the great poet of Persia, explains the thought more clearly. He says “ the pains and sorrows the soul experiences through life are holes made in a reed flute, and it is by making these holes that the player makes a flute out of a reed. This means, the heart of man is initially a reed, and the suffering and pain it goes through make it a flute, which can then be used by God as the instrument to produce the music that he constantly wishes to produce. But every reed is not a flute, and so every heart is not His instrument. As the reeds need to be made into flutes, so the human heart can be turned into an instrument and can be offered to the God of love. It is the human heart which becomes the harp of the angels; it is the human heart which is the lute of Orpheus”.

Do Not Aspire Fruit In Return When You Do God’s Work

Whenever you do the work of God, do not aspire any fruit from Him.

Only the mechanism of God in which you participate comes under the context of the Gita. Whenever you do the work of God, do not want anything in return from Him. The human being may forget the work done by you and may not reward you for your work but the omniscient and most generous God will never forget your work. If you want for anything in return of service rendered , a limited fruit, which balances the value of your work, will only be given by God. If you do not want , you will get unimaginable fruit.

Draupadi bandaged the cut finger of Krishna with a piece of cloth torn from her sari and did not hope for any fruit for doing that little service. Krishna gave her thousands of saris when she was unclothed by the Kauravas.

The Faith

  • The Purpose of Life is God/Truth:
We may be chasing after sense-objects and the planet of desires and ego, but the sooner we realize the better that the only true purpose to life is God, the better probability we have to be liberated of anguish and distress
  • True Meaning of Renunciation:
Being untouched by desire is true renunciation.
  • Desires are fleeting:
Desires are fleeting, but you remain an unflustered spectator, just inspecting and enjoying the show. This does not mean you do not act. You have to do your karma and believe in Karma Yoga.
  • Unsteady Mind Cannot Meditate:
If you are unable to steady your mind you will not be able to meditate. Without meditation, you will not unearth the Truth. Without Truth, there is no end to the misery.

Lord Krishna gave the knowledge of Geeta to humankind in the Dwapar yuga …. because he knew in Kaluga, it will be only this knowledge which will keep the humankind alive.

Geeta is a collection of utmost truth and wisdom.

I can tell you the 5 most important teachings by Lord Krishna.

  • Respect Women: Shri Krishna said he will live only where women will be respected.
  • Widely believed: Shri Krishna said “Ahimsa parmo dharma” but if a certain limit is exceeded, force must be applied to end the evil.
  • Get rid of desires: Shri Krishna said desires are like trap nets which will never let your soul feel free.
  • Shri Krishna has said to do Jan Kalyan should be the biggest purpose of a human being And Jan Kalyan starts from your family.
  • Shri Krishna told Arjuna “Sanatan dharma is the true dharma.”

True Teaching Are Those Which A Preacher Himself Follows.

  • If one will follow dharma, dharma will safeguard her/him in a complete life cycle even after death. KRISHNA FOLLOWS DHARMA.
  • Love and mercy are precious ornaments. HE HAS ALL THE QUALITIES A GOD HAS.
  • Krishna being lord took the burden of war. And he declared himself as the only cause of war; the good qualities and infinite teachings and morals from the life of all living beings who took part in this battle even animals are regarded as teaching of Krishna.

Hare Krishna!

Qualities of Lord Krishna which we need to imbibe.

  1. How to love and serve your parents and family members? How to satisfy their desires without any expectations?
  2. How to be impartial and equal to all?
  3. How to motivate a person to accomplish his or her goals and achieve happiness and peace?
  4. How to protect dharma by standing for dharma and eternal principles of life?
  5. How to think about the greater good in any situation?
  6. How to lead people from darkness to enlightenment?

Be aware of me always, adore me, make every act an offering to me, and you shall come to me; this I (Krishna) promise, for you, are dear to me.

Thousand salutations to the greatest Guru, LORD KRISHNA!
